Yesterday the men drove north – out of the city – to practice some driving when they came upon a farm which sold pasture-fresh meat and eggs.
They brought home the most amazing looking steaks and chops I’ve seen in a long time.Continue reading “Snapshots from the weekend”
In my south-western corner of Toronto the daffodils and hyacinths are in full bloom. They don’t mind some cold weather; in fact, they are hardy enough that they do better in cold than in warm temperatures.
Remember the little house story I told a while back?
Well the garden is exploding with these flowers at the moment. Despite the suffocating dead foliage and other debris in the neglected garden, these bright coloured flowers are peeking through the drab browns and greys, and awaken my senses for spring.
Just in time for a freaking snow storm.Continue reading “Winter weather with hyacinths and daffodils”
I’m sitting outside a coffee shop dressed fully in black, with shoes instead of boots, absorbing blissful sunshine.
I look like Catwoman. Meow. 🐱
Why is this blog-worthy you ask?
Three times the radio interrupted the crappy songs it was playing in order to update us on some tornado warning.
It happened during yesterday’s drive home from my mom’s place. The weather apps indicated storms were brewing. But then, with this incredible humid air sticking around for weeks now, thunderstorms have been regular occurrences lately. Continue reading “Summer storms and changes of plans”
I was sitting outside, bundled in a hoodie and blanket, hoping the sun will diminish those snow-clouds, waiting for the CF Snowbirds to make an appearance.
I will begin my story with the happy ending: I’m home, no one was hurt, maimed, killed or sent to jail today despite the weather that could have caused all of the above, and I have tea and a pecan butter tart.
Still interested in my many mishaps? Read on, then…
As far as the snow in November is concerned (which is unusual for Toronto)… PS It feels like Friday today. Happy Hump Day. Bah Humbug. You’re welcome. Boo. Continue reading This is me for the next 6 months
We took our kids from Toronto, Canada to Switzerland on vacation. This is our adventure.
This is a multi-part series.
- Vacation memories: travel day – part 1
- Vacation memories: travel day – part 2
- Vacation memories: from flight attendant to passenger 20 years later
After a relatively short (sleepless) Trans-Atlantic flight to Zurich (about 6 hours), we arrived early in the morning at around 8 am local time.
Our body clock was still on Toronto time though, it was 2 am for us. 🙂 But everyone was awake and in a good mood, and the airport was not busy at that time, so off we went through passport control and baggage claim.
I spend half of baseball season tethered to my phone or some other device where teamsnap is loaded into.
This year’s baseball season has been a particularly wet one so I have spent more, not less time, keeping an eye on that app.
I’m not feeling it this year. I’m mostly just annoyed. 🙄 Continue reading “Outdoor youth sports and the weather gods”
I’ve decided I’m going to build a boat.
I’m over my rant from yesterday. 🙄 Thank you to those of you who have reached out. 💕 Continue reading “Writing life while cooped up inside”
