Need to know 4 – writing cabin

Missed the first questions? Click here:

You were given a month away in a cabin to work on writing undisturbed.
  • Question a) Is the desired cabin in the mountains, on a lake, in a forest or on a beach?
  • Question b) Who would you like to have with you as your writing companion?

Me: WELL. I think I would like a cabin in all of those locations, but if I had to pack up and leave today I’d pick a beach.

I’m not ready for the cold weather; it feels like summer wasn’t really long enough this covid-year, and it wouldn’t take me as long to pack for a beach-side cabin. I could leave within the hour. Ha.

(I would pack: a couple of sun dresses, a light sweater, a bikini, a pair of capris with a tshirt, leggins and a tank top, my nighty and matching robe, toiletries and a few pair of shoes. I was a flight attendant for four years, I can pack this stuff in under 20 minutes.) 🙂

In terms of a companion, I would pick several of you. BUT, I would request some time to myself first. So, come any time after the first week. 😉

Your turn. 🙂

Need to know 2 – chores

Missed the first question? Click here: Need to know 1 – happiness

If you could give up one necessary household chore forever but had to replace it with another chore, which would they be?

Me: clean the bathroom

I want the bathroom to be sparkly clean as well as highly organized. I don’t want to think about where stuff is, I just want to reach for it and do my business.

This is tricky in a home where multiple people use the same bathroom. Why is it so hard to put the toothpaste in the same location every time, hang up the towels, rinse down the suds after the shower, clean out the hair from the drain, give the toilet a swirl with bleach and a brush, keep the toilet paper stocked and a full roll on the holder? I also hate scrubbing the tub and tile more than scrubbing the toilet, wiping mirrors (why are they always so spotty?) and being the only one who knows how to refill the liquid soap dispenser. Oh, and the floor needs to be clean enough to eat off of (not that I’d do that, ew, but that’s the standard I desire and never seem to be able to achieve).

Maybe I’ll hire someone to do just the bathroom every week. That’s how much I hate it.

Instead, I’d rather sweep and mop/swiffer the floor or vacuum the area rugs, neither activity I’m a particular fan of, but will do happily if I can just never do the bathroom again.

Your turn. 🙂

Need to know 1 – happiness

Name one tangible thing that makes you blissfully happy. Explain why.

Me: Fresh sheets on the bed.

There is something about how a freshly laundered set of sheets, pillow cases, blankets and comforter induce a deep, satisfying sleep for me. I still revel in it when I wake up that first morning after.

Your turn. 🙂

Never a dull moment – Thursday

Ok so I’m focusing on some positive, happy things here to get through the week filled with stress, a deadline, PMS, clutter and arguments…here is the first thing:

My house plant is flowering! Continue reading “Never a dull moment – Thursday”

Surveys

Every once in a while I think to myself that whiling away at the internet is a preposterous waste of my time. I wish I had something constructive to do (on the internet) that wasn’t random googling or reading or blogging about ridiculous topics. I want to do something interesting but the words to write don’t seem to come out. But what to do, especially on a rainy cold day, while the dish- and clothes washers are humming along, and the crockpot emits savory scents throughout the house?

I fill out surveys.

And what’s more, I get paid for them. Continue reading “Surveys”
