A nail, a hammer, and a bike ride

So. I have bad news about some pieces I submitted. But, that’s ok. I’m going to get myself a long nail and a hammer, so I can start a collection of rejections. Like Stephen King did. He mentioned this in his book On Writing.

So far, 2 of my stories I wrote recently were declined, the other 5 still being reviewed, and the rest ongoing.

Wonder what mom would think if I started hammering nails into walls in her house… 😵 Continue reading “A nail, a hammer, and a bike ride”

GOMA™ aka exercise by walking

Welcome to the first post of GOMA™ (Getting Off My Ass) and re-start walking regularly. I have two participants: Andrea in Germany (twitter @inkovator) and LA in NYC. So far. We are encouraging each other to stay on track with 20 minutes of brisk walking per day (at minimum) and documenting some sort of proof that we did it. I went to my second-last boot camp session in a local church basement this morning. A group of local moms come here every Wednesday at 9:15 am, after the school morning routine, and we spend an hour working out, focusing mostly on core exercises, weight and strength training, and a little bit of cardio.

Back when I started eight weeks ago I did some jump rope. I could do something like 11 seconds before I had to stop from all the huffing and puffing.

Today, I did three sets of 80 seconds. That’s almost a minute and a half! 🙂 Continue reading “Endurance, cardio and other momlife fitness chatter”

High points, low points

The high point today was knowing boot camp was on. Today is my third time going to the church basement and exercising with other moms.

The low point was that I woke up at 4:30 am with a headache coming from my neck and shoulder area. Continue reading “High points, low points”

About jump rope and laundry

So. About boot camp… 😶

After Tuesday’s chocolate gorging, I went to check out the local exercise class in the church basement on Wednesday morning.

Well, the good news is, I’m still alive. 😂 Continue reading “About jump rope and laundry”
