Welcome to the first post of GOMA™ (Getting Off My Ass) and re-start walking regularly. I have two participants: Andrea in Germany (twitter @inkovator) and LA in NYC. So far. We are encouraging each other to stay on track with 20 minutes of brisk walking per day (at minimum) and documenting some sort of proof that we did it. Changes: something’s gotta give

A couple of days ago my boot-camp lady sent an email advising us that she was finally able to secure a permit to hold outdoor classes at nearby parks. 😃

There are a few changes: bring your own yoga mat, maximum 10 people per class, distanced stations to circuit through, etc.

She will sanitize the equipment (weights, rope, balls etc) before, during and after.

It’s exciting…but, I’m hesitating.

Fresh start

I woke up this morning intent on finishing part iii of my Derailment series (part i, and part ii) and decided…nah.

I’m sick to death of that topic.

Doesn’t mean I won’t finish it at all; I just need a break. It’s about writing and the challenges I faced during my climb out of the abyss in getting words out of my head and onto a screen. I love writing about writing…even if my actual writing is nothing but drivel. 😉

But that post can wait.

Instead I flipped a switch in my brain to get out of this funk. Seeing sun in the sky on the horizon helps. Several other things attributed to this change in mental focus as well: Continue reading “Fresh start”

Endurance, cardio and other momlife fitness chatter

I went to my second-last boot camp session in a local church basement this morning. A group of local moms come here every Wednesday at 9:15 am, after the school morning routine, and we spend an hour working out, focusing mostly on core exercises, weight and strength training, and a little bit of cardio.

Back when I started eight weeks ago I did some jump rope. I could do something like 11 seconds before I had to stop from all the huffing and puffing.
