Continue reading “Understanding men”Let’s say you have a friendship with a person who is not the same gender as you (and you are both heterosexual). Let’s say there may or may not be some spark between you. Let’s say the friendship is platonic and continues to be this way and is mutually accepted as such.

My independence is crucial to my mental health.
There are times however when help is desired, or required. During illness, injury or maybe a broken car for example. We all know what it’s like to be pulled into different directions at the same time and having to rise above somehow.
Being able to control one’s schedule or plan, having all the ducks in a row so to speak, this is how I function. Waiting for others to contribute without instruction or direction doesn’t always work out in the desired outcome. Intuition plays a part here. ha.
I have a somewhat funny anecdote to share that illustrates this frustrating phenomenon of communication not getting through. Although at the time I was seething, I am (sort of) getting past it now. Frankly, if I spend too much time allowing that experience to rattle around in my head I feel myself getting all tense again. Still, working on seeing positives instead of dwelling on the negatives has its benefits on my mental health, and what better way to deal with this than to write it out in a blog post?
Here is what happened: Continue reading “Communication failures, or the prohibited stew-eating incident of last year”
