Strange Swiss things: all things bathrooms (part 1)

This is a continuation of the vacation memories I blogged about while away in Switzerland.

***

I came across weird things in Swiss bathrooms that seem foreign to us North Americans so me being me, I took out my phone and snapped photos for you. You’re welcome. 🙂

20. Vacation memories: Lugano (part 4)

We visited the southern Swiss-Italian city of Lugano while vacationing in Switzerland. You can read about our adventures in this colourful, almost Mediterranean town in part 1, part 2 and part 3.

Up, up, up the cobblestone steps we were led by the GPS in search of churches, before making our way back to Bellinzona and then into our little mountain village. Continue reading “20. Vacation memories: Lugano (part 4)”

19. Vacation memories: Lugano (part 3)

As stated in part 1 and part 2, we visited the city of Lugano in the southern part of Ticino in Switzerland. We sat by the church for a while, checking out the apps and radar maps.

You may recall that my partner is a pilot so of course he was following the weather on the aviation apps to see how much longer the storm would last. It wasn’t long, and we ended up leaving the church when the tail end of the cloud was still drizzling on us. Continue reading “16. Vacation memories: hiking in the Alps – part 4”

As we descended back to the closed restaurant where the nice man gave us drinks, we contemplated which loop we should do next. There was the trip we took 15+ years ago, pre-kids, that was lovely as far as I remembered so we decided to do that one again.

I did worry about us not wearing proper shoes though. We had running shoes on, not hikers. We didn’t really go out and buy hikers just for this trip knowing no one will wear them again once we return back to Canada (where the kids play sports and wear runners, or cleats (or skates, hah). Our financial situation isn’t exactly a bottomless pit… 🙄 Continue reading “15. Vacation memories: hiking in the Alps – part 3”

I don’t talk much about my partner as he is not interested in social media or being part of it etc., but he knows I document our trip and is ok with some peripheral mentionings.

For this chapter of the story, he plays a part. Because… he loves to hike. Always has. If there’s a trail through any kind of nature, but especially a forest, he’s in his element. But he will hike anywhere: in the desert, in the Canadian bush, through rolling hills or steep mountains…doesn’t matter where.
