On Monday the girl child went off to school as she always does. I spent my morning hours doing what I usually do while simultaneously doing a load of laundry when suddenly, I got a text from her.
My tummy hurts, can you please pick me up!
Twice this weekend my partner got up at 5 am and left to go fly a plane out in Peterborough, 2.5 hours away. Yesterday and today.
And with teenagers in the house who don’t get up until they’re literally starving to death, I had a rare couple of mornings to myself. Continue reading “Non-habitual routines: the new normal”
So this morning, they left. Every single one of them! I had an empty house. π
Today was the first day of school for Canadian children.

The morning was kind of anti-climatic actually, which is a nice change of pace. Having gone through various forms of stress, anxiety or other associated emotions in the past, I didn’t really know what to expect today. Nice that it went relatively smoothly.

Today marks the beginning of a new milestone. Although school doesn’t begin for another week, my highschool boy has his orientation at his new school this morning. He and a friend are taking the bus. π

Yesterday was a day. Ugh.
Short version: My excellent suggestions were ignored by family members. Result was epic fails all day. π
At end of day I jokingly tried to teach them my mantra (repeat after me: mom was right), but they refused (ha) and so I escaped with my 3rd glass of wine to the back porch after dinner. Left them to clean the kitchen (which I had to finish later in a somewhat, um…tipsy state. Ahem.)
But first, this happened:
I have plans for my weekend, to get things done and accomplished. The family is away on their annual camping trip and this mom here is on a roll.
So after my little meltdown yesterday the main floor of this house is clean(er).
I think I melted down because I was out for an appointment and some errands and came home to the entire house looking like a landfill. There is only so much of this I can take on a regular basis.. (blah)
