Capricorn season: The Devil XV

Capricorn and the Devil tarot card

It’s Capricorn season!

I began to combine the zodiac signs with their corresponding tarot card some time ago. A year ago I didn’t even know this connection existed! Now that I know, I enjoy exploring the link between the metaphysical, the symbolism and the astrological.

So what about those Capricorns? They are born between December 22 and January 19, are ruled by the planet Saturn, and are associated with the element earth. The Tarot card that corresponds to Capricorn is The Devil XV. If your birthday falls on those dates, Happy Birthday to you!

Description of the Devil card

The man and woman who are chained in front of the Devil are not chained so tight they can’t escape. Do you see how loose their bondage is around their necks? Whatever is holding them back from exploring their freedom and possibilities is not coming from the Devil – it’s coming from within them. But the Devil is mesmerizing them – baiting them – with his stare.

“Stay,” he says.

Are you going to succumb to his illicit desires? His manipulations? His attempt to control you and imprison you?

Message

Turning to external gratification when we feel insecure, needy and unsatisfied is easier than to acknowledge, face and deal with whatever is troubling us within.

It’s your choice to stay or go, as the loose chains indicate.

If you stay, you submit control of your free will to the Devil or the force that represents the Devil. If you reject his bait, dismiss his luring stare into your eyes, and instead choose to leave him and his playground, you take back your power.

The choice is yours.

The colours assigned to Capricorn are brown and purple. I looked over my bead selection and realized I had several colour-appropriate beads to suit the Capricorns.

This morning, I did a little post-Christmas energy reading and published it to TikTok. Capricorn didn’t come out, but the Lovers VI and the Hierophant V did. (Gemini and Taurus)

The Lovers VI is all about relationships including family and friends (not just romantic). Isn’t it interesting that the Hierophant V, who represents tradition, also came out? Nothing like a traditional get together over the holidays to test or bond the relationships of family and friends. And check out the Oracle card that flipped out after… couldn’t be more prefect if you ask me. (Click the clip, it’s 59 seconds short.)

Thank you for reading! Feel free to contribute your impressions about Capricorn, the Devil tarot card or the TikTok reading. Looking forward to your insights.

  1. The Lovers is relationship of all kind, not just romantic, I think, and that seemed appropriate with the holiday period.

Are you still pulling cards? I stopped for a while, or at least didn’t publish findings, but I’m at my tarot table now at mom’s house where I’m more able to “read” energies than elsewhere…

  2. Elder Daughter is what I call a “Super Capricorn” she has her Sun, and four other planets in Capricorn.
Another Earth sign, Taurus, is known for stubbornness, but I think Capricorn beats Taurus in that area๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I was reading some astrology thing recently that mentioned Gemini and Venus. Interesting that you pulled Lovers and Gemini ๐Ÿค”
Keep trusting that intuitive sense! ๐Ÿ’Œ๐Ÿ’Œ

    1. Mostly the description is linked to the card’s message. For instance, the shadow self idea is represented by the image of the devil (or, if you don’t believe in the devil, a source of evil or trouble).

So if I draw the Devil card in a reading I would immediately look at the duality of a situation or personality, such as good and bad, light and dark, moral or immoral, that sort of thing. Or the whole illicit thing with Adam and Eve (what moral issue are you dealing with when this card shows up? Are you lured by lust rather than love?). Perhaps you’re in a relationship that might indicate some codependency or attachment issues (one-way street, infatuating crush, etc)…

I’d be curious to find out if it matches the characteristics or personalities of the zodiac sign person, your son in this case. But the tarot card gives a message rather than describes a zodiac… (at least, this is how I understand it, if I may be so bold and use that phrase.) ๐Ÿ˜‰

I like Cafe Astrology as a source for zodiac descriptions, but there are others that give great detailed information.

      1. Thanks! Reading that list I was wondering just how much I didn’t really know about my son, but it makes more sense to associate those descriptions to the card! That makes more sense now ๐Ÿ™‚
