Updates: life, work, dogs and a new logo

As we inch closer toward the end of October, I’m beginning to see a few gaps in my calendar. Gaps meaning nothing family related is scheduled and I will actually have some time to catch up on my own projects!

It’s a mixed bag of sentimentalism, this fall-merging-into-winter time here in our south-eastern corner of Canada. Back to school and hockey/ringette season is hectic, peppered with multiple birthdays and Thanksgiving thrown in the middle of it. But the excessive scheduling is coming to an end. Cycles are closing out, and new ones are on the horizon, ready to start spinning. Kids are moving through high school at an alarming speed.

I was sipping coffee with my mom this morning, preparing myself for a busy day out of the house. On my menu today: dog walking times two. 🐾 Pixie needs a morning and an afternoon walk. My new client works from home but needed an experience person to look after her puppy on days she’s out of the house or out of town.

“She’s a rescue from Antigua,” she said. “High energy! And she’s only 9 months old.”

I met both the client and the puppy during a meet and greet earlier in the week and today is the day I get to walk her. πŸ₯°

I hope the weather holds. It’s cooled down but isn’t cold yet. When the sun comes out, the colours of the leaves are simply breathtaking. This alone makes dog walking even more pleasurable.

Mom commissioned my son to put up the Christmas lights this weekend, saying it’s easier to do when your fingers aren’t frozen. She won’t turn them on until December, but at least they’ll be up. I’m proud of my son for assisting her with these trickier jobs, and he knows he’ll get her famous bruschettas to snack on while he’s here in the burbs with us.

My daughter just turned 15 and is busy scheduling work shifts at her bakery around her sports activities. This Saturday for instance, she has a game in Niagara Falls, which is about an hour and a half’s drive from Toronto pending traffic. But the game isn’t until 4pm, with arrival at 3pm, so she offered to work the 7-12 shift in the morning.

I bet she’ll be tired by Saturday night… πŸ™‚

It’s been such an amazing experience watching these two teens step into maturity and gain life experiences now that they are no longer restricted by all the pandemic protocols they’ve suffered through.

So life is trekking along quite nicely here.

Some of you know about my brother’s illness. The news coming in from the west coast is that for the moment, he’s managing the treatment mostly well. He’s had some setbacks with the usual symptoms but he’s active and socializing when he’s up for it, walking his Retriever puppy regularly, and focusing on the positive as much as is possible. We’re hopeful the next MRI will show the treatment is working. Keep your fingers crossed for us, or say a prayer if that’s your thing.

Next week, my work week will have less interruptions. I have a gift bag surprise in the works for my store Boldly Chic Boutique, stay tuned for that launch. I’m getting ready for the holiday season.

Meanwhile, I have a new logo, I will share details of that experience at another time. Take a look:

Click here to visit my store: https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/BoldlyChicBoutique

My instagram for my shop is here: https://www.instagram.com/boldlychicboutiquebyclaudette/

My regular, blog related instagram is here: https://www.instagram.com/writerofwordsetc/

Another thing happened: although TikTok banned my BoldlyChicBoutique account, they invited me to join the business account community on my regular account (you can see it here: https://www.tiktok.com/@writerofwordsetc/.)

Do not ask me what they are doing or how they arrive at their decisions, but I said yes, and, my plan is to familiarize myself with the ins and outs with this new venture. πŸ™‚ You may remember I had an interesting experience with a viral post on TikTok before, click here if you want to read more about it.

Thank you for dropping by my blog today! Cheers from me to you.

  1. Hi Claudette, loved catching up with you, and sort of melting into your image of fall. This is my favorite time of year! Loved your pics, your new logo, but most of all that your brother is doing well with the treatments. Sending up a few prayers because that is my thing. Hugs, C

    1. Our Thanksgiving is in the middle of October which coincides with two family birthdays so it gets super hectic, in a good way. πŸ™‚

Yes, we have Thanksgiving, just a little earlier than America. I like it because it doesn’t mesh with Christmas.

  2. Such beautiful pictures! Happy that your brother is managing well. Best vibes to him! And of course the Retriever puppy will help.
I like the new logo. But I don’t understand how Tik Tok can ban an account and invite the owner to join its business community at the same time!
Do you walk Tucker and Pixie at the same time?

    1. No, I do not mix client dogs with my own dog usually. πŸ™‚

Besides, I’m in the suburbs, and Tucker is in the city.

But I bet you he will smell Pixie on me when I go pick up my daughter later to take her to the rink. πŸ˜€

  3. It’s been a long time since I’ve β€œseen” you. I’m glad to know that life is moving ahead at warp speed with some wins. I’ll be praying for your brother. How sweet of your son to help your Mom. I love your new logo! Best wishes! Being off of social media, and not here very often due to my treatments, has out me behind. Take care my friend. πŸ’›
