Has it really been nine days since I posted here?
It’s been nine days since I posted here, apparently. Huh.
Its not like I have nothing to say, it’s more that I am perpetually distracted by ongoing projects and a lot of reading interspersed with kids-and-beagle-related stuff. A bit of variety was thrown in for good measure, some outings and socializing among the usual drudgery to earn the almighty buck. It is summer, after all, which is a fun but short season and lately, hotter than hell.
I do love my air conditioning… I know what it’s like to not have it it; I was already University-bound when my parents installed central air, so I am one of those people who can appreciate what it feels like to sleep in an oven. 😉 Been there, done that too many times to count.
Anyway, nowadays I sleep in a/c with a fan if necessary, and I am most certainly not looking forward to cold weather yet. At all. There is something to be said about rolling out of bed and throwing a little teeny summer dress over my body and that’s it. No complications with those pesky layers winter weather has us fumbling with for too many months out of the year.
Not everyone enjoys the heat and humidity though. My mom stands at the window yearning for cooler weather and rain. Not just some light drizzle, but a good flood that will sink at least several inches into the soil and nourish the parched garden.
Maybe she needs to learn some ritualistic dance or recite some magical prayer to appease the weather gods because there hasn’t been any rain of significance in weeks. Or perhaps the tarot cards will help? 😀
She’s well acquainted with the garden hose is what I’m saying. 😀
When I stay at the city house with the kids I’m treated to daily Beagle shenanigans, which currently involve a black squirrel who is Tucker’s nemesis, and a couple of raccoons who get him into a state of irate agitation which is quite humorous. Considering how hot it’s been, which induces an advanced level of laziness in most species covered with fur, the little beagle wakes up as the sun goes down and takes up his guarding position on the back deck. He’s so rigid in his alertness and so jumpy and bark-y when his posse arrives it almost functions as a supplemental workout for him.
When the wildlife arrives he barks and growls and runs and jumps and freaks out and shakes and then he starts all over again. Irate is how I’d describe his disposition when he stands off with the raccoons especially. 😂
I just sit back and sip my beverage, hoping he doesn’t clear the fence or hurt himself. The raccoon meanwhile climbs a telephone post and sits up there staring down at poor Tucker.
This sort of entertainment trumps the Chinese dude square-dancing to Boney M’s Ma Baker on TikTok who, incidentally, has me all pumped up about learning to square dance. 😀 Perhaps I may join a dance club or, better yet, create my own square-dancing TikToks. Maybe that will go viral without the incomprehensible violations I had to endure over my wasps nest videos. 🤯
Yes, I’m a little bitter; that video almost reached a half a million views and I’d be well on my way to a business account now before they cited I was in violation of some guideline.
There is no rhyme or reason in social media as to why something offends some cultures but something else doesn’t. I can’t, for instance, spray insecticide on a wasp nest because the Germans were ready to have me arrested (I suspect they’re the ones who reported my video since insecticides are illegal in Germany, but not in Canada), but I don’t see anyone reporting other videos which are much more disturbing than insecticide spray. Pisses me off, truth be told.
Whatever. It is what it is. I don’t have enough oompf within me to fight and appeal, but it does irk me.
I’m still perplexed about Amazon and its author page discrepancy thingy which hasn’t been resolved (their customer service is very, um… confused and when I suggested they delete something they refused without a clear explanation why so I gave up, for now). I’m ignoring it for the time being. It’s been preoccupying me, but I have too many other obligations at the moment to set aside the time to fix it. Justine mentioned I might create an author page on Goodreads… I’ve ignored that platform for years but maybe I need to revitalize it. Hm. (Thanks for the tip!)
Meanwhile, I also had another wonderful massage which helped re-align my lower back and I’m back to my Asana Rebel fitness routine. My side planks are up to 6 seconds on each side and the daily 40 crunches, which I never look forward to and hate doing with a passion, have made a difference to my core strength in the abdominal area which is why, I suspect, my back issue is almost gone.
Plus! I work out outside! Early, before the sun begins to fry everything… I never realized until this year how much more stimulating it is to do fitness outside surrounded by grass and trees and sky. Even those irritating crunches which have me perspiring to the point of dehydration are more easily endured outside than indoors next to a pile of my niece’s University-bound stuff. 🙃
Soon it’ll be September, then October, and suddenly the sun won’t be as warm…
Okay, fellow bloggers and readers, thank you for stopping by and reading my ramble. I’m off to work out in the backyard and then off to work.
