I continue on the path of clumsy accidents.
This morning, for instance, I was walking this trouble-making hound.
We were navigating around these tall but melting snowbanks when he pulled me into an empty church parking lot. I indulged him but started calculating mentally how long we could stay on this detour because I had to drive my kid to school 40 min away. (Long story short kid and hound are staying with me and my mom in the burbs for the week for reasons I’d rather skip over right now. She typically lives in the city with her dad near her school.)
So Tucker sniffed and trotted and tugged and climbed the snow mountains along the edge of the parking lot while I tried to keep my balance because puddles.
At one point, he lunged at something in a snowbanks and that action almost landed me in the puddle beside a hedge.
I managed to not fall but I did hurl expletives before I realized where I was. ⛪
It wasn’t the F-word…
I said “goddamnit Tucker”.
Can you say that in a church parking lot? 😀
Anyway I managed to get Tucker home and the girl to school on time, but it reminded me that I need to be careful, because I actually did slip and fall just last week. I was getting the car ready to take my niece back to University when I went to check on Tucker in the backyard.
There was a lot of snow and it was bitterly cold. I stepped onto the path and was about to bend over to pick up a stick to throw for him when I slipped on black ice and fell really awkwardly right into a frozen snowbank. I twisted and hurt my knee, incidentally the same knee I hurt when I fell in the hospital lobby on nothing and sent the cute paramedic away instead of letting him look me over, hah. 😎
But I digress.
When Tucker saw me writhing on the frozen path he thought I was playing and jumped me which annoyed me and confused him.
I knew I had to salt the entire area around the whole house because the last thing anyone needed was another injury, especially not my senior citizen mom whose broken femur is healing nicely…
So I hobbled around and sprayed salt everywhere, then went to the front of the house to spray salt around the car and along the driveway before making my way to Guelph to drop off my niece.
So how’s this for a little glimpse into the life of some winter-weary Canucks? ❄️🇨🇦🌨️
There was a whole slew of other stuff that preoccupied my last couple of weeks but I’ll leave it here for now.
We can now resume regular programming. 😀
Thank you for reading! See you in the comments.
