Tarot Tuesday (on Wednesday*): strange synchronicities, the Empress and the number 3

*snowstorm, 4 hours of shoveling, appointments and other delays… 😯

Recently I listened to three tarot readers on YouTube on the same day. I typically do this while designing beaded jewelry, but I keep a notepad handy to take notes when they remark on something that increases my knowledge on tarot cards and their interpretations.

Two of the readers were addressing the zodiac sign of Libra (me), and one of them was addressing all air signs (Libra, Aquarius and Gemini). All of them were reading for the same upcoming week.

One of them had a spread of cards already laid out, the other two shuffled and laid out their cards while online.

Here is where it got interesting:

All three of them pulled the Empress as a dominant force in the spread.

So that piqued my interest and alerted me to the number three. The Empress is the third card in the Major Arcana of the tarot…

The Empress represented by two different decks of tarot cards

So now that I was tuned into the 3s, I was also tuned into the synchronicity of how the three very different tarot readers all coincidentally picked up on the same dominant energy of this 3rd card in the Major Arcana for the upcoming week for my sign.

I made a mental note to ponder its significance.

Rather than analyzing the Empress’s meaning in today’s post, I’m going to focus on numerology and synchronicity instead.

To dig deeper into the Empress, check online, or go to one of my favorite sources, Labyrinthos. They have a wonderfully resourceful website which I like to consult as one of a select few of my go-to sources for tarot information.

Note: I know very little about numerology, but I do know it is closely connected to the tarot.

What does the number 3 mean in numerology?

I found an interesting interpretation someplace online but can’t recall the source, nor the exact message, but it went something like this:

1 means nothing happens. Think of a man by himself, or a woman by herself. There is no possibility for procreation, so nothing happens.

2 means something happens. Think of how the man and the woman come together and now there is the possibility of procreation, making something happen.

3 means everything happens. When procreation is successful, a third is conceived and born. As of three, there can be more possibilities and more procreation.

This is a simplistic viewpoint and not comprehensive. There are many interpretations available online. I’m just giving you mine here.

However, since the Empress was mentioned at least three times by three different tarot readers, and she is number 3 in the Major Arcana, I thought the numerology angle was relevant and applicable.

I don’t know what to make of this synchronicity, but as you may know from this article I wrote on Medium, I periodically notice sequenced number patterns.

Just recently, the sequenced numbers have been appearing again, alerting me to tune deeper into my intuition. I don’t know if any of this means anything, I’m just increasingly aware how these sequenced numbers keep appearing. It might happen for several days, even weeks, where I see sequenced numbers, not just on my phone or on digital clocks around the house, but also on licence plates, receipts, patterns in phone numbers or signs… The list goes on.

One really weird coincidence occurred on my two Instagram accounts: writerofwordsetc and writerofwordsjewelry. I posted something to both of these accounts on the same day, so when I clicked on the first one and saw I had 555 posts, I thought, ok cool, here’s the repetitive fives again. When I went over to the jewelry account later, I noticed I had 111 posts published.

I don’t understand it, but it was a remarkable coincidence. πŸ™‚

Trying to make sense of these patterns have been illuminating and fun, and since it causes no harm, I indulge in these exercises. Sometimes I learn something along the way. I feel much more aware of my external surroundings, my internal behaviours, emotional triggers and the intuitive know-how when to seek solitude and seclusion or pursue excitement and social events.

The sequenced numbers didn’t teach me that or give me messages from angels or the universe, at least not to my knowledge, but the fact that I recognized repetitive patterns happening continuously in my environment certainly gave me a deeper awareness of life events.

That’s all I have for today. Thank you for reading my post.

  1. In the 22nd of December @ 7:22 I sent out a newsletter to my subscribers. How many? 222. I then received an update on my blog that I had a new follower, bringing the total to . . . you guessed it: 222.

It just so happens that my childhood phone number began with 222.

  2. Noticing Synchronicity is an awesome way to be present, in the moment. They may or may not have any other meanings but they DO help us stop and pay attention. I love Synchronicities!
And that album by The Police is pretty good tooπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚πŸ’Œ

  3. Since you began this journey, and I love following it with you, my logical side has argued with my open/interested side regarding weird coincidence or something more. You title the post synchronicity- I actually spent time yesterday reading about synchronicity for my mysterious post…in it there were references to numerology and the # thing (which seems to be going crazy for you) and then of course it was all explained away with psychological theory by something called confirmation bias. And, writing that post also triggered a memory of a numerology chart I found as a kid in stuff of my mom’s. Something about using your birth date numbers. Anyway I continue to find all of this intriguing and still ponder the concept between tools like these actually telling us where are lives may be going or that we are creating those lives because of what the tools tell us??

    1. I think the way tarot, numerology and astrology intrigue us is telling – we may resist believing because we believe in science, proven concepts, logic, but then these coincidences start happening. Up until recently we just dismiss it as ‘oh weird, I saw a license place with the numbers 444 yesterday and now it’s 444, cool’ and forget about it.

Meanwhile, all the sources I consult now say pay attention to what you are doing when you notice these repetitive patterns, phrases, numbers, groundhog day events. Is your own intuition trying to tell you something?

I came across this exact phenomenon again when I re-read the Celestine Prophecy last month (I read it when I was 20ish, and it went completely over my head). Although I’m not a fan of the author’s writing style, I paid attention to his message in his story because of how tarot cards have taught me to pay attention to things… His message makes a bit more sense now. I do believe there are energies in and around us…

Anyway, the whole thing is not just entertaining, but strangely academic in a psychological and emotional/mental health sort of way for me.

Thank you for your comment and for following along. πŸ™‚

      1. I see nothing bad about be more aware of “you” and learning about oneself, especially if that awareness allows you to make better decisions. That book is now added to my list!
