This is the first summer in which neither kid is playing baseball. They both started with t-ball at age 4… They are now 13 and a half and 16.
Because we are still in the slowly emerging opening up of lockdown (stage 2 with stage 3 happening in a week) not much activity is available for them. My son picked up golf and is looking for a part-time job, but my daughter is in that tricky age where she’s too young to get a job and there aren’t too many options available right now for volunteering and other things.
So summer so far is looking very similar to the last 16 months of lockdown… Kids staring at screens.
Having said that, my son’s quite involved with the dog who was up to his usual shenanigans, and my daughter and I are beading jewelry together. These are the pictures I posted on Instagram.
I’ve been staying home as opposed to at my mom’s lately mainly because the kids had so many appointments in the past couple of weeks. It’s been busy and their dad’s often out flying or doing other things so I took advantage of my home time and purged half the house. It’s ongoing still, but I feel better already.
He’s doing the same downstairs.
I miss writing, but this time away from writing has also been really good for me. I’ve been taking advantage of my increase in creativity and began designing a new ebook cover for my next book. I’m so happy with the result already and it’s not finished yet… Stay tuned.
And of course the jewelry design has been keeping me busy as well.
I made the above necklace for a friend of mine in Australia but I made a similar one for myself.

I find it very therapeutic to design jewelry. I listen to relaxing saxophone jazz, or sometimes tarot readers. Whenever they do an analysis for my sign Libra ♎, I learn a lot from them. I’ve narrowed down a select few who are, in my view, really good in educating me on how to be more intuitive. When they release a collective reading for my sign I bookmark it, then get busy beading, or purging, or with some household chore. There’s a new collective reading out today by Kyle of Cups so I will listen to him shortly.
But then, yesterday afternoon… I plunged. I suddenly felt very fed up and lethargic and craving carbs so laid on my bed and consumed an entire box of cheese stick crackers. 😱
My daughter got an invite to join some friends at the mall, an activity that had been nixed for the duration of Toronto’s lengthy lockdown so off she went. She had something to do. When she came back, she announced she had a present for me.
I almost fell over. A present? For me?
“I saw it and thought of you,” she said. ❤️
So I decided to turn a blind eye to some of the other things she bought. Not the makeup brushes or pj bottoms, but this…
Teenagers… 🙄 I give up. 🙃
Anyway, it appears there will be some construction happening on the deck next week which will be the perfect time for me to escape to my mom’s for a few days. With Tucker…
Stay tuned for that update. 😂
