Silence, music and The Purge

What is this silence people speak of? What does it feel like?

There’s a lot of noise in my life and in my head.

Words, sounds, phrases… I feel like I’m being bombarded from every direction with negativity and excessive clutter.

Not all of the words are coming from *them*. (It doesn’t matter who they are, they *all* fit the criteria. This includes media as well.)

Some of these noises are coming from me.

I am my own worst enemy at times… πŸ™„

All this internal and external noise kind of halted my second book publication. Actually, it’s finished in terms of the written part, but before I upload it I need to do another edit, a final one. (There have been many edits already; this is the final one). I just can’t concentrate or get enough consecutive hours of solitude to make it through the just less than 10,000 words in one sitting.

Editing, at least for me, requires a consistent focus to stay true to my voice in those words. Do you understand what I mean by that?

I don’t want to edit in snippets.

Writer of Words etc.

So what do I do to quiet down my own disruptive internal constant barrage of unhelpful vocal words?

I blare music into my grey matter via my headset. πŸ˜€πŸŽ΅πŸŽΆπŸ˜‰

  • Lunatic Fringe by Red Rider
  • Janie’s Got a Gun by Aerosmith
  • Another One Bites the Dust and We Will Rock You by Queen
  • Betty Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes
  • Better be good to me by Tina Turner
  • Day by Day by Doug and the Slugs
  • Every Breath You Take by The Police

Well there are others, some veering into 80s pop; it depends on what comes up on the recommended list.

While at my house (I’m a gypsy – I live in two places) I also tackled a huge project I’ve been putting off. I decluttered and purged all the accumulated craft materials. It was in dire need… (The tween slime phase is behind us, yippie! πŸ€ͺ)

I managed to put a huge dent into the art supplies belonging to my teenage daughter.

Note: the teens aren’t helping, because the teens are sleeping their lives away. πŸ™„ But this suits me because I can do a deeper declutter when they’re not insisting on keeping things I feel they no longer have any use for.

I eliminated piles in open baskets and on surfaces in random places around the house. She’s also down to two bins from four. I snagged one for myself and placed my jewelry hobby supplies in that one. πŸ˜€

Bonus: the bins are tiered, clear, and have a handle. Which means we can see at a glance what their contents are, and they can easily be carried to whatever location you want to do the craft in.

I also completely emptied one of two towers of drawers, purging and condensing. The empty drawer can now go down to the basement office and once he finishes his own decluttering, fill it with… I don’t know, tech stuff probably. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Summer vacation is on. The family is home (oh wait… They’ve been home for a year and a half…)

But we’re finally in stage 2 of lifted restrictions and maybe this is the beginning of a new normal, finally.

Happy July 4th to my πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ readers!

  1. Our heads are multi core processors, always making noise…When confused listen to only one voice of your heart(provided the kid in you is still alive, the kid that we kill knowingly or Unknowingly)

      Doug and the Slugs:

Bad news don’t ruin my appetite
Don’t let the papers tell me if it’s wrong or right
I just do what I do and I do it
Day by day by day by day

Live a life, might take it slow
Made mistakes but oh that’s the way it goes
I just know what I know and I know it
Day by day by day by day

Day by day I’m feeling stronger
Day by day I’m lasting longer

  2. I love your jewelry! I don’t do the Insta do you have an Etsy? I don’t wear a lot, but Younger loves the beaded earrings, and necklaces too.

My head DJ switched from Neil Diamond to the Eagles. It’s a smash-up of “Lyin Eyes” & ” Tequila Sunrise” πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ
Mellow is good. It’s when Linkin Park, Godsmack, Disturbed, Korn, etc start playing that I know I need to get my Zen back before Limp Bizkit “Gimme Something To Break” becomes my mantraπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
UGH!! the 4th is always difficult. Zeus gets upset at fireworks, cars backfiring, anything that goes BANG. I’ll be doping him with benadryl and hoping for the best. Poor big dumb dog🐾

    1. So far Tucker hasn’t done much with firework noise but he’s only 1. It may still come… Hopefully not … Past dogs I knew were very afraid!

I put some of the jewelry on the website, and will add more when I get a chance…

    1. It really does help with the mind. On the one hand I focus on that specific task forcing my mind to not wander and at the same time, the systematic approach helps to also process all the mental clutter. I know you know what I mean… very helpful. Also I like the clean look of my work. πŸ™‚
