A few days ago I woke from a deep sleep to loud music. I sat up and strained to hear: what music? Where was it coming from?
It was early, maybe 6 am, and I hadn’t had a good sleep. Some side effects to the vax maybe kept me awake half the night, or other things, life things, percolating through my brain, who knows.
But there was this song and it was prominent, significant and loud.
Then I recognized it
Lunatic Fringe, by Red Rider, with Tom Cochrane doing vocals.
So there I sat in bed, confused and perplexed, straining to hear the song.
Some of you know I have a hearing loss from a childhood illness, which is quite severe on one side, and moderate on the other. Without the aid of technology, I can usually sleep through backyard noise from partying neighbours with open windows no problem. Which is why I was stumped that morning.
If I can hear this song that prominently, it must be coming from close by.
After some checking out my surroundings, I discovered its source:
The song was playing inside my head. π³
For two days now, I can’t seem to shut it off. Good thing I like the song, and know a bit about its history. πΆπ΅πΌπΈπ§π₯
This morning again, I’m still humming it. I’m going to put my headset on shortly and listen to it again.
Do you like this song?
Music inside the head is a magnificent state, a shame it doesn’t happen more often.

How funny! At least thatβs a good ear worm. I hate when I get a catchy, but not great, tune stick in my head. I am very susceptible to this early in the AM before coffee. I have had a couple last a few days.

Hmmm, generating your own music. Probably cheaper than Spotify or some other music app!
I know the song well…interesting to have that one roaming around in your head.

Those songs can stay in your head for days. Weeks even. Good thing it is one you like.

For a while I went through a Queen phase… Nonstop for a week. π

I tend to listen to instrumental jazz these days to keep songs and lyrics from getting stuck in a loop and keeping me awake for days on end.

I do too while I’m writing! I google rainy day cafe or something and then… Bliss!
Queen et Al are more suitable for cleaning, cooking, purging. π
