A quick update and some questions for you

I have two half-posts ready for Tarot Tuesdays but they sound odd. They are not ready to publish. I may skip this week and get back to my scheduled Tuesday series next week.

I also have another post almost ready where I complain about a comment Penny made on The Big Bang Theory. It hit a nerve. Allow me to give you a glimpse: old people are ugly.

Ya… no. I’m not in the right mood to address this comment today. 😛

AND, I have a lovely photo post almost ready to publish describing my first venture out to lunch at an outdoor patio. That happened last week when I spent six days with mom in the suburbs. On a whim, we decided to go to the old part of town and have pizza. They renovated the entire downtown along the Lakeshore, and it was really cute to go wander around and find a place to have lunch after the excruciating 16+ months of being locked up like inmates.

Here’s the picture I posted to instragram which some of you have seen:

I haven’t been blogging much because I’ve been doing a million things away from my laptop.

For instance, today I have four baskets of clean laundry that I need to sort and put away. (Why do we have dressers? Why not just leave all the laundry in two baskets – one clean and one dirty? This would make life so much easier.)

I also had a whole slew of irritations today involving certain nameless family members and a repetitive comment about how the dog smells.

Long story short: Tucker’s had two baths today. The second one was done by me, and he no longer smells. He’s now in his prime spot surveying the street activity.

No longer stinky dog Tucker

Thought I’d throw that out at you. Boo.

This morning, I was in the mood to continue my naughty story I started last week while watching the neighbourhood, but then I couldn’t get any solitude or quiet so I dressed up to go grocery shopping. Just because I haven’t had a chance to wear a new top I bought over 6 months ago.

Off to the supermarket

Do I look stressed? I was stressed. This and that caused my stress and then, while driving, I realized I forgot the stupid mask. Do I turn around? I couldn’t, there was weird construction at the top of the street and I got wedged between pylons and an oncoming truck so I checked the glove box and found some disposable medical masks in a ziplock bag. Those backups came in handy for once. I wore those and I hate them worse than the cloth ones I typically use. My heart goes out to people who have to wear them for 8+ hours a day.

Is covid over yet? Blah.

Anyway, I’m still here, just not blogging as actively. But I do have an ulterior motive for dropping in on the blog today.

I have a few questions I want to pose for you:

Do you like the tarot series? I will likely continue it regardless for my own interest, but I’m curious how you feel about it.

How do you feel about locked story content? Meaning, how would you feel if some content was placed on a membership portion of the site, or locked with a password? I have lots of content I could share here, but I’ve been cautioned by some well-meaning followers that I give too much away for free…

How do you feel about a donation link (crowdfunding)? Donations means you can contribute what you feel is adequate for content you enjoy. Lots of people do this: artists, musicians, podcasters…

Do you like, and read, ebooks? I found myself buying or reading more ebooks while stuck in lockdown and appreciate the fact that I can adjust font size, lighting etc no matter when, or where, I read.

What app do you get your ebooks from? I get mine from Smashwords, Kindle and the library app.

Have you read my ebook The Man from the South? You don’t have to answer here or in public, but I would love to hear your thoughts. My email is in the contact tab. I stopped promoting it but would really appreciate a few more reviews. It’s listed at US $2.99 and now available on Kindle as well as others (see list).

Disclaimer: there is kink and some soft bdsm in the story. If you’ve read 50 Shades of Grey, it’s nowhere near anything like that, it’s much softer.

So, perhaps I will return to regular programming in the next days or weeks. School is coming to an end this week, my baby is graduating from elementary school (no grad trip, no grad ceremony, no party, only a zoom meeting boo) but, there will be cake. Everything chocolate fudge cake, as per her request. So, if I don’t die of diabetic shock, I’ll be back to regular blogging shortly.

See you in the comments.

  1. I like the tarot series.

I feel that locked story content is useful and allows you to benefit from your craft if you incorporate a pay wall. I think a membership portion of the site would be most beneficial in case the password is hacked.

Crowdfunding has become the norm, so why not get in on it?

I like reading eBooks (though I’ve been slacking on reading books).

I prefer downloading Kindle books, which is easy since I’m already an Amazon Prime member.

    Hope my feedback helps.

  2. Ok. Love tarot. Hate crowd funding. Want to know big band story. Love ebooks but only read on nook. Haven’t read your book…yet….locked content, even blogs that make me go through too many loops annoy me. Don’t remember other questions. I think COVID is over in nyc because have gone back to getting colds…good old fashioned colds

    1. Seems bloggers who have an active community don’t like crowdfunding. Seems the ones who do are influencers and on different platforms…interesting.

      Thanks for the feedback.

      Colds are no fun.

My book is on the Barnes&Noble list as well. 🙂

  3. Tarot doesn’t interest me, but I know many people, women in particular, like it. Locked content and memberships etc, are too much work and a pain so I wouldn’t be bothered. E books are my go to books these days because I don’t want to bring any more stuff into the house. I purchase from Apple and Kobo and occasionally direct from publisher websites. I also use Libby for library books. I prefer to read and support good Canadian authors first then others when I can’t find something Canadian to read. I am very particular about what I read.

    1. I use Libby too. And I have recently learned and supported more indie authors. My book is on Kobo as well which I know is huge in 🇨🇦.

Tarot was tricky to break into because I had no clue but many assumptions about it. I’m enlightened by it now. But it’s not for everyone. 🙂

And I’m beginning to see that there are two camps for membership/paid content in the internet world. Bloggers tend to be the ones not so interested in membership content… Interesting.

      Thank you for your feedback!

  4. Tarot YES

reading is still an issue with me, but yes ebooks Kindle mostly, but have used Kobo (?) Can’t remember and I don’t have it in this phone and I’m too lazy to get my tablet😉

Money stuff is whatever. I don’t mind paying for stuff, and crowdfunding… as long as it’s not a “hard sell” deal.

I haven’t read your book yet, but I Pinky-Swear to leave a review when reading is a thing for me again😫 I miss reading…

  5. First off, I’m curious about Penny’s comment. I loved BBT but heard that Kaley Cuoco was a bit of a prima donna on set and irritated a lot of the other cast members. Pure Hollywood gossip, of course. Who knows?

    To answer your questions:

    The Tarot series is interesting.
I’d be down for password-protected content.
    I personally despise crowdfunding.
    I read nothing BUT ebooks.
I use the Libby app to check out ebooks from the library.
I think I’ve read MOST of The Man From the South.

    1. I’ll write about the Penny comment. It referenced something about the youth-obsessed culture we live in and the sexual desire and activity that doesn’t fit with “old and ugly”. 🙄

What’s the problem with donations and crowdfunding?

I changed the story slightly before turning it into an ebook, but thanks for reading along. Would you buy the sequel to The Man from the South? 🙃

      1. This is just my opinion obviously, but Go Fund Me campaigns and the like just feel like shameless grabs for money. I also avoid the Salvation Army bell ringers like the plague. Things like that turn me off. I also hate when I’m buying something at PetSmart and the credit card reader asks if I want to donate to pets in need. Again, that’s just me!

      2. Since I’m finding it hard to ‘sell’ or ‘market’ my written work, I thought of putting a donations button on my stories. That sort of ‘crowdfunding’. Not sure if that’s still considered crowdfunding, but it’s an idea I’m pondering.

We should explore this topic some more. But I get the impression that bloggers in general are not much into it. Whereas influencers (youtubers, tiktokers etc) are… (but I’m not an influencer)

        I don’t know.

  6. I read exclusively ebooks these days. I mostly read books to review, and I like to take notes while reading, which is easier on my laptop. I get them from Amazon, the local library, or Netgalley.

    1. I didn’t know much about Tarot either and was petrified about it, but now I’m keenly interested and impressed with how it has helped guide me. You’re welcome to follow along if you like.

And thank you, Tucker is a cutie when he’s not smelly or up to shenanigans. 😀

  7. The Tarot is definitely nothing I am getting from anywhere else, so keep that up. It’s fascinating. I ain’t big on locked content/crowdfunding..weren’t you doing that on patreon ? Or did you leave that ? Not a fan of ebooks. I may have read your book before it became a book, how are sales on the book ?

    1. I have more sales than I thought I would have but I’m not quite ready to buy a yacht. 🙃

Yes I believe you read the blog version before, I took it down and refined it when I made it into the ebook. Can’t wait to start my sequel … 😳

And Patreon is still there but not active. I started it for the purpose of the memoir but I’m not into that right now. Will revisit another time…

  8. Tarot series: yes. It helps strengthen my own knowledge.
    Locked story content is annoying.
Donation link for coffee or whatever, sure…anything else, nope.
eBooks: I used to. I’ve gone back to reading physical books.
Your book: I didn’t know you wrote a book!
