Bits of this and that

I have a complaint. πŸ˜›

There was snow in Toronto yesterday. On May 28. Which is almost June. Boo. 🌨️

It didn’t stick around, but it was weird timing. Just last weekend we turned the a/c on for a couple of days to lower the temperature in the house to below 27Β°C (80Β°F). It was stifling and humid and uncomfortable…and the a/c is a lovely little luxury. I didn’t have a/c when I was growing up…

I’m still at my mom’s house and will be for a few more days. Yesterday with the cold snap she asked me every half hour if she should turn the heat on. I think she finally did it around midday because it was so cold!

We’ve been spending some time together here in the suburbs, just Mom and me. The kids and partner are doing school at home on all their devices because the government still hasn’t opened schools (or salons for haircuts, or shopping, or restaurants, or anything really) in months. They wanted to keep the dog so Tucker stayed with them too. It’s been nice to take a breather from the lockdown family disarmony… πŸ™„

I’ve been working on multiple projects including a second book I’m almost finished writing. This time it’s not an erotic romance but there’s still going to be quite a bit of steamy relationship shenanigans going on. You’ll have to forgive my state of mind these days; I have literally not had a life in 15 months and so I’m letting loose in fiction. πŸ˜‰

Another project I’m working on is the job search which is going all right. But, I took a break from resume writing and self-marketing and turned my attention to fiction writing for a bit just to get some separation and space. And then I left the house to go shopping in the freezing rain which was just ridiculous…

I chatted with a guy in Florida last weekend whom I know through Twitter. He asked me how I was doing and I told him I was hot. This was true at the time…

Anyway I don’t think he’s ever been to Canada because he offered to switch his heat with ours.

The temperature in his part of Florida was around 86. Ours was 80 and climbing…that day when we chatted we reached 33Β°C (91Β°F) here in Toronto.

I sent him a screenshot of our weather and he was very surprised. He said, “doesn’t seem like there’s much difference between us and you”.

Being the smart-ass that I am I responded with this:

“Our igloos are all melting…”

Lucky for me he is a good sport, and he sent me this in response: πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

Ha. 😎

I don’t know who needs to know this but we do not live in igloos in Canada. Just putting it out there… πŸ™ƒπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ˜€

Anyway, today’s weather is already looking up. This is my current view.

If you look closely you can see the orchids are in full bloom. I got that plant for mom a couple of years ago for her birthday, but it only had a few flowers at the time. This spot on her bay window seems to agree with it because it’s just exploding with blooms.

The bouquet in the front with the white carnations was a gift from the west coast to commemorate my dad’s passing a year ago this week. ❀️🀍❀️

Ok, stay tuned. I’m going to put together another YouTube video today to supplement my Tarot Tuesdays. Check in later; I hope to post it today sometime.

    1. It didn’t actually snow in the two areas where I live but not 30 minutes from my home in Toronto someone texted me it was snowing outside her window. Ugh.

All good now. We’re back in summer mode. πŸ™‚

  1. I have envy! Quiet time and pretty flowers inside the house and outside too. Having a Ben is worse than having a Tucker. The only thing growing in my yard is weeds, the size of the “hole” and the piles of “used” chalkπŸ€ͺ

    I won’t talk about our weather.πŸ˜‰

    1. I really do feel for you. I want good things to come your way and I know, I KNOW, you have many good things already. That boy is a blessing despite the many autistic challenges. I wish I could invite you for a respite, and take turns to give Ben’s mom a chance at a little bit of freedom.

Your flowers on your walks are amazing and a feast to the eyes and brain. I love the splashes of colour and especially when I was still in winter-ish weather…some Cali sunshine was exactly what I needed. ❀
