There is a fun passage in one of Bill Bryson’s travel books where his friend gets pooped on by a bird on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
I could picture it clearly because I was in Paris a few times during my twenties when I was a flight attendant and of course visited the Champs-Élysées while there.
I remember reading that passage and laughing so hard I almost peed myself. Not only did the friend get pooped on by the bird, it happened twice!
I have to admit that I do worry sometimes when I’m down by the lake that a seagull might poop on me. But it never happened in over 50 years.
Until today.

A bird, probably a sparrow, pooped on me. 😳
When that happened I stared at it incredulously. What the hell?
My next thought was this:
Blog fodder. 🤪
Anyway I went inside and cleaned up, made a fresh coffee, and then came back outside to enjoy this warm sunshine, which has finally made an appearance up here in Toronto, only to notice this:

Tucker, my 10 month old puppy, claimed my seat. 😀
I have more to tell you about but I’ll stop here for now. I had a hard time getting up this morning because my arm hurt all night from the Pfizer shot I got yesterday, but I’ll tell you about that another time.
Good morning! May you spend a *bird-poop free* day today!
Bird poop? You once heard the story of the man looking up at the sky, in that a bird passed by and unfortunately fell in the flight, right inside his eye. Result: blind from that eye forever. The end. (Fortunately it fell on your arm only.)

It is fortunate and I still have my arm, too. 😂

Maybe I have a different definition of “lucky,” because a bird shitting on me sounds like the opposite of that…

I wasn’t impressed at the intrusion. 😳🙃

Surprisingly, I have never been pooped on by a bird. Sven pooped on me once. Lizard poo is rank!🤢
I hope it was a lucky day🤞

I got pooped on by a flock of geese while watching women’s mud wrestling at an outdoor fair, and a squirrel pooped in my eye as I read a book under a tree…Animals pfffffft!

I love Bill Bryson’s books. We say him speak in Oxford a couple of years ago. He told a wonderful story about Nick Nolte at the Sundance film festival that I can’t repeat because it involves LOTS of swearing 🙂

I remember years ago in boot camp in Orlando, Fl. a bird pooped on one of the recruit’s shoulders. I remember we were not supposed to show emotion. Some of us were rigid with the ingrained discipline and the yelling going on at boot camp. I remember I giggled but my sympathies were with her as she cringed but never moved on station. Then I heard that a bird pooping on you is good luck but for some reason, I seem to remember it was a black crow. This women had a tough boot camp experience: I remember that quite clearly, so it did not work as good luck for her. Most of us were happy to pass under the radar. Have a great day!

Tucker looks quite certain that the seat belongs to him.
When I was a kid we used to go down to the US for 4th of July. The day after I was going for a walk in the park where the fireworks were held, and with plenty of garbage handy, the seagulls were having a field day. I got pooped on multiple times. Lesson learned.

Lucky it wasn’t a seagull. That would have been a lot messier.

I loved that book by Bill Bryson, I think the title was “neither here nor there”. I laughed my head off. Also a walk in the woods is really good. Actually anything by Bill Bryson is a wonderful read and so funny.
The sun is amazing today (Monday) and I am nude tanning on my balcony. A wonderful way to chase the illness away.
Love your post❤️❤️❤️
