There were some issues with the neck brace delivery, and when it finally arrived, after I had gone to bed last night, it ended up not fitting right, nor was it comfortable. So much for accurate measurements.
I put it back in its box and will return it to Amazon. Thanks, but no thanks. I guess I’ll keep suffering. (woe is me blah blah blah)
Anyway, this morning (like most mornings) I felt ok, didn’t take any pain meds, and decided to take the short, ten minute drive to the drug store to see if I can find a brace there that would fit better. I needed other stuff from there anyway so I decided to take advantage of the less-pain-induced morning and get some errands run.
The first drug store, called Shoppers Drug Mart, had a brace that looked as comfortable as the Amazon one (which wasn’t comfortable) so I picked up my other items and then drove across the street to the other store, called Rexall, and found a soft, foamy brace for $14.99.

I placed my phone on the raised laptop to take this stupid shot hah. π
Earlier today, I wore it with my hair down which was kind of annoying.

I got used to it though. The brace literally does hold your head in place, easing the pressure off your upper vertebrae, so if you ever feel some neck pain after having spent the day looking down at your phone, I highly recommend getting one of these foamy contraptions.
Just don’t do this. THIS, putting your chin inside the brace, defeats the purpose of keeping your head straight. π

I ran a couple of other errands while I was out anyway and still managing, not realizing I had left without eating breakfast. Which is why I promptly ate a cinnamon twist with my coffee, and then a vanilla custard filled thingy. And then I had chocolate after my sushi lunch.
So sue me.
After the manchild came home, ate lunch and disappeared into his room for his remote afternoon class, I figured I may as well take the puppy for a walk. No one will be available to take him and I really wanted to be outside today – the sun is out, the ice and snow is melting, and it felt like spring was not far off.
But I remembered the last fiasco with my puppy and decided that this time, I would use his harness with two leashes. HA! Try to get out of that, Mister!
He wasn’t impressed.
Tucker being Tucker managed to get all twisted and at one point his forward leg was out of the harness and he ate some disgusting Canada geese poop and some old bread someone cast away probably to feed the ducks which you’re not supposed to do anymore and anyway, long story short, it still managed to be a relatively enjoyable walk. π The sun was brilliant, it wasn’t cold, and I didn’t have a hat on the first time in months.
I also had the neck brace on. It was weird, walking with my head looking straight ahead the whole time.
Here are a few pictures from our walk.

I managed to get myself and puppy home in one piece without additional injuries, strains or other damage, emotional or physical, and then enjoyed a hot cup of tea.
Next, I checked my email. I think I may have found an editor!! π
While I contemplated his email and the next steps, I glanced at my WIP edits and procrastinated with some new nail polish. The lighter colour is called Potato Peel, the darker (new) shade Sensitive Storm.
So there you have it. A nothing post about nothing. (Don’t blame me, I watched an episode of Seinfeld while wolfing down my sushi lunch).
Thank you for reading. π
Well, you found a comfortable neck for yourself. I hope it’s a solution to your problem.

Glad to have found your blog. You look much more comfortable with the drug store cuff. I see a smile. Does it work with a mask??! My brother lives in Toronto and I have been along a similar beach stroll, nice place to walk.
I have written a book and am trying to go the traditional publishing route first. But what I want to share is that I used an editor and it was so worth it. He could help me better highlight the themes and reorder some things for a better flow. Good way to go. Good luck!

Thank you very much for this comment! The drug store neck thing is more comfortable and I am glad I purchased it. I’m feeling better but have to watch it so I don’t regress… π
Yes, agreed about the editor thing. I have to keep a strict budget though so we’ll see how it goes…
Thank you for stopping by! And welcome.

The brace is helpful although ridiculous, and Tucker is a joy amid chaos. π

It is lovely. The ugliest part of my neighbourhood is my street. Everything else is wonderful. The park with the lake is literally steps from my front door.

Thank you, yes I do feel a bit better.
Rexall is still kicking around here but Shoppers Drug Mart is huge and I won’t be surprised if Rexall folds soon…I go there when Shoppers doesn’t have the stuff I need on sale, as I quite accidentally discovered that if shampoo brand I need isn’t on sale at Shoppers it’ll be on sale at Rexall. Today, not one type of chocolate at Shoppers was on sale, but at Rexall, almost all the brands of chocolate we like was. π

The lake and the sky… oooh! I’d want to be outside too.
Those neck braces are horrible and wonderful at the same time! Keep wearing it!π
Vegan, bio-based, quick dry nail polish? I am intrigued. I haven’t painted my nails in so long, I probably suck at itππ

A lot things here to comment about for a post, as you said it, about nothing π I love Seinfeld!
First the neck brace, I got a black one from Amazon, and it was awful, painful to use. I should have returned, but just lost the money instead. I am curious about the one you got. Will wait a few days for a second report from you.
I love Tucker!!!! Mischiefs and all!
Who comes up with nail polish names? potato peel-NO!! Sensitive Storm I like!
Good luck with the new editor!!!
I hope your neck and back feels better!
Blessings to you! β₯β₯

How did you find an editor? Is s/he free?

I googled, looked at recommendations in twitter, checked out websites, reached out to some…I got a few ‘standard automatic form’ responses which don’t do anything for me. I like the ‘take the time to write me a personal note’ response. They are not free and should not be free. The sample that he did for me for free is very valuable to me (and I have done editing myself in the past and got paid for it) so I appreciate that good service does not come free of charge.
Are you looking for an editor?

I am. I wrote a novel and want to find an agent, but have heard that editors are the first step.

Take your time to find a good match. I know nothing about agents, and will be self-publishing, but editing makes sense to me even though I have a very limited budget.

Thank you for this advice! Why will you self publish?

Tired of rejection…that’s only part of the reason. I want to maintain a sense of control too. My stuff doesn’t fit in a specific niche either. And to find someone who will see me for me rather than change me to be something I’m not is something I’m not interested in.
