I returned home to the family today (after spending a few days at mom’s) with a car full of groceries.
The puppy went berserk. 😄 Good thing I left the bags in the car at first, since I was getting mauled immediately upon entering. 🙄
The husband kicked into action and started unloading the car while I tried to free myself from the doggy assault which landed me kneeling on the floor.
The son, my teenager, watched with interest and then approached me, leaned in toward me and said:
“I missed you, I’m so glad you’re home!”
Actually, that’s a lie. 😛 He said something completely different. I’ll let you guess*.
Hint: he’s 15. 😶
Anyway, after Tucker finally got off me, I flicked on the kettle for tea and went to help unpack all the groceries, including a small pecan caramel cheesecake (shut up).
That’s when I saw that someone sent me a present.
I checked the return address and it was from Niagara Falls. (That’s about am hour and a half drive from Toronto.)
I don’t know anyone from Niagara Falls although I know people in neighbouring towns, like Welland.
I wracked my brain to find out why they sent me this gift. It was a tote bag, a note pad and of course a request for donations.
But I had never heard of this outfit before. Nor have I ever attended any sort of church or organized religious event in or near Niagara Falls. I’m not even Catholic (yes, I know my last name is Italian, and yes my father was Catholic, but I did not grow up with religion).
I have spent a significant amount of time in the Falls though. At least twice a season I would be taking my ringette-playing daughter to a game in that town, and every March for the past five or six years we did a tournament with hotel stay there as well.
I never went anywhere other than arenas or restaurants, usually. Maybe some tourist attractions…
But not churches or other religious places.
All I can think of is that someone sold my address to them. Or, they obtained it via cyberspace.
Anyway, I’m not sure if I’ll use the tote bag at all. But I’ll probably scribble on the note pad. 🙃
So that was that. Another perplexing matter to occupy my grey matter with.
*Now, what do you think my teen’s first words were to me when I was getting covered by puppy slobber?
See you in the comments. 😉
