Nice to meet you in the (almost) flesh. π To me you just sound like somebody from my area, so I canβt hear any accent. Iβll have to listen again. π
Love it! You sound Canadian with a touch of exotic to me! I really enjoyed this and I like your blonde streaks too! I’ll do you a tailored Whatsapp chat video as I don’t show my face on my blog, as you know π
Great job and congratulations on being brave enough to do that! You have a nice easy listening voice, no accent at all in my Canadian opinion, and seemed very relaxed.
You have such a nice calm voice you could be a DJ for an easy listening radio station, or perhaps do meditation tapes! I used to take a meditation class and the woman teaching it had such a soothing voice. I could mediate in class, but not at home when I tried on my own, but then I realized it was her voice, so I bought her tapes! My own voice is horrible and nasal, so I try to avoid any kind of public speaking.
Really enjoyed this! I liked the story about the woman in the winter coat at the Dollar Store. It makes me wonder about all the why’s. So what app did you use to vlog. Is it difficult to figure out? I hope you continue writing, of course, but I hope you also integrate vlogs along with your blogs. I think it was very successful. Maybe you could read some of what you write to us. Then we could comment. Mona
That was cool! You do have a noticeable accent (not that this is a bad thing!). Thank you for being open to trying something new…it was refreshing. I like your blonde streaks, too.
It takes a lot of courage to open yourself up in this way. I’m fortunate because I have had few issues with followers or readers here. I hope it stays this way. Good luck! I’m sure you’ll do fine if you decided to do it again!
I am thinking of my Conferences with my online students but I only do them once and have my hair and makeup set to go. I don’t practice as I would go crazy…sometimes I only let them hear my voice and screen share of the assignment, so my good looks don’t distract them!
Also, it makes it easier to grade them if they are not aware of my facial features. The less they know, the better except for the studies, of course. I would hate to be out and about and have someone scream, “Isn’t that…Mrs….from the video?” and everyone thinks, what video?
I think it’s the same here. For the younger kids, it’s about privacy issues, for the college students, it’s similar although I think they have the option to use video if they want to (they’re all over 18). My partner doesn’t use video, he uses audio only when he teaches online.
That is good to know because sometimes I feel guilty not showing up on line with my face and in the beginning I used to ….thanks for sharing. I will stay with audio.
How strange–a voice. My blogging experience is entirely in writing, and thus, in my head. I was in Costco the other day–where there were displays of Hallowe’en costumes and candy. It seems to be rushing it–we’re still in sultry summer. I love winter–but there’s still gardening and canning and autumn. So I’ll hang on to the now, now.
Claudette
first off beautiful accent
so quiet in your delivery though
although
So radiant when talking about your hair π
very cool though, nice to match a voice to the words
Matt
Thank you, and yes, I noticed too that my initial part was quiet. I need to figure out how to either speak differently, or adjust something on the laptop. And the hair… well. I hope I don’t mess it up too much because I bought another kit today. π
Hello π you’re an interesting vlogger I never thought you’d sound so Canadian! I love this sunny weather so much as well lol probably for different reasons……………. girls in short summer dresses π
Claudette I feel for you, we’re all feelin tired with covid weariness none more so than my brother and daughters……….. Oxford University’s vaccine trials look promising π fingers crossed.
I respect anyone who can put their face out there. Iβve had some people try to get me to record some readings, but the whole idea really freaks me out.
It took me 2 years to get to this point. π³ I’m still not really all that comfortable. I’d be happy to talk with you about my experience (but not to convince you of anything, don’t worry)…my email is on the blog contact page.
It’s not for everyone…and I may or may not continue. I haven’t decided. π
Well, hello! What a great idea. Itβs nice to put a face… and a voice… to the blog once in a while.
Itβs hot as hell here too. I mowed the lawn today and almost melted into a puddle… which the lawn would have appreciated since we havenβt had any good rain in weeks.
What a pleasant surprise! Love the hair π€©

I did it on a whim, but took a few practice clips before taking the plunge. Thank you Joni for commenting.

That is very sweet of you to say. My family would die laughing reading this comment since they are of course privy to me yelling at them. π
But this does encourage me to tone it down… people do tend to listen better when the voice is quiet and soothing, right?
Thank you for the sweet compliment.

The few Canadians I’ve encountered in the past have tended to have quite noticeable and/or pronounced accents. Yours was a lot softer.

Nope. French is one of my learned languages and I’ve forgotten most of it due to lack of use.
