Day 26

This morning started with a bang.

Quite literally, not the other, naughty kind. πŸ™„

I had some issues in the bathroom requiring a trip to my apocalypse/overflow stash of supplies in the bedroom which disturbed the sleeping man and when I was finally done and went to make coffee it was just 6 am.

Whatever. That’s like sleeping in for me.

But I was feeling very groggy. I didn’t turn on all the lights while puttering around when I had the great idea that the lava lamp might cast a soft, soothing glow while I slumber away in the living room.

My son received it on his birthday which incidentally was the first day of lock-down…

I looked for the switch in the dark and next thing I know the top of the lamp, the part with the liquid in it, is on the floor.

Thankfully it didn’t break (enter swear word).

Of course the sleeping man is now up again wondering what the commotion is all about which travels me down the same path I’ve been navigating since the day we bought this house.

We should have never bought a house with the master bedroom off the kitchen. We are not compatible sleepers and I make noise.

Anyway. I have coffee now. He went back to bed. Kids won’t stir till much later so I’ll sit here with my phone and play with you instead.

Are people annoyed by my antics? Amused?

I gotta admit sometimes I cringe at the drivel that comes out of my keyboard…

Today is the 26th day we’ve been home together in quarantine. Neither my province nor my city have reached the peak of positive covid-19 cases nor deaths yet. We are going to be doing this for a while…

So, we continue to sit in our homes and take one proverbial step after another.

It’s all we can do.

In the meantime I’ll try to be quieter, and a bit more coordinated. I’ll try, I’m not making any promises.

  1. We too have a master bedroom off the kitchen. I totally get your issue. However I have zero guilt about waking Mr Jones when I have to get up at 5.30 to go to work and he sleeps until 9 or 10 because he is semi – retired. My two older teenagers feel the same way as myself.

Unfortunately I think he could sleep through a cyclone…..

  2. I recommend reading a novel that doesn’t get too excited about your spirits. A quiet novel, with friendly characters, novels with simple plot. It works very well to read a novel when I’m too restless.

  3. I got up at 6:30 this morning and began getting ready with make up, clothes, etc. Working from home and I needed to feel good and to feel good, I needed to have my make up and a top I like and I curled my hair. End of day: the day went well and now tomorrow.

  4. I’m not taking sides here, but do you NEED to be up so early? Making noise while someone is sleeping when you’re only getting up at that time because it’s a habit not because you have to be somewhere …. Could you just head outside and take a walk, get your exercise and then come back after an hour and make coffee?

    1. I would have to get dressed (it’s still quite cold here in the mornings) and all my clothes are in the bedroom…

These sort of fiascos don’t happen to me every morning. Most mornings are simply ‘make coffee and sit quietly with my phone’.

But every once in a while, I have accidents, in the kitchen, in the bathroom, in the hall…

Thing is, the noise was always a part of this life we have. We used to have a dog, we still dog sit, and the children, when they were young…well, you know how noisy they get. At the same time, the roles were reversed at one time. He used to be an airline pilot and was up cooking elaborate breakfasts at 3 am to get to the airport by 5…and I was trying to sleep.

Which was why we argued about buying a bungalow even back then. SIGH.

It is what it is. At least I have blog fodder. πŸ˜›

  5. I am entertained by your antics. πŸ˜‰

Did you know I collect lava lamps? I’ve got more than two dozen now. My mom accidentally broke one once. They’re a mess to clean up, so be glad you didn’t. Would have made last week’s wine glass fiasco look like nothin’.

Hopefully your next morning bang IS the naughty kind!

  6. Okay, the way I see it, we have had so much taken from us that I refuse to give up my presence. Like, if Sunshine and I were still together, there would be much arguing about how he needs to just go to his art studio and close the (expletive expletive) door so I can watch what I want instead of listen to his “women who kill” and “ancient aliens” teevee binges. You are much more of a peacemaker than I amπŸ™„

  7. This is so me! The noisy kitchen off the bedroom. Trying to be quiet while hubby sleep. The awake before the rest of the family and therefore snuggling in the couch in my phone attempting to write. But nothing good came from my writing, it all sounded boring and pointless this morning. So I gave up, and read about trimming old apple trees instead. Day 25 for us.
