I’ve been saying that a lot lately, haven’t I. Like my earlier post from a few hours ago which was all ranty and full of expletives.
Sorry. (Not really.) π
Apologizing is a very Canadian π¨π¦ activity so sorry for saying sorry when I’m not really sorry. π
I’m in the same headspace as you, in some cases further along the pandemic path, in others cases well ahead of what may still be in store for you.
Sorry. π
I’m hoping some of you will be spared all this doom and gloom.
Here in Toronto we have it easy, relatively speaking, compared to many other places. I am thankful and cautiously optimistic about that.
But I’m tired and scared and unsure how any of this will unfold for some, many, most of us.
Just like you are.
I can’t promise I’ll be all sunshiny and positive all the time here, so let this be a forewarning for you.
It’s easy to block or unfollow someone. Just sayin’.
I may have already lost some of you. That’s ok. Just be well.
I will have good days where my main preoccupation is whether or not to colour my hair, how to keep outsmarting my teenager from finding the chocolate stash, or whether or not to wear a bra.
Yes I am currently on a bra/no bra kick. Sorry (not sorry). πΆ
Incidentally, I’m wearing one today. But not one of my new ones. I picked a sports bra. In case I felt like…I don’t know, do some jump rope on the driveway or something. But then, I didn’t get dressed until 12:56 so there’s that. No jump rope today. Might interfere with my nap.
While deleting some fluff out of my phone, I came across this photo taken 12 days ago on March 12. My hair is not showing any grey, is it.
Unfortunately my hair looks like this currently.
So. Perhaps in a couple of days, I may colour. Or not. Consider this your before picture. π
Also, if this is how fast my hair grows just imagine how long it will be by the time the lock-down situation is lifted… π³
That’s ok. I like long hair. On me.
Anyway I’m heading back to the yard. It’s hoodie time, no need for a winter coat today. Earlier I was trying to build an outdoor guinea pig cage but was interrupted by Busty the neighbour’s cat. π
My daughter distracted her for a while, but then she left. The cat, not the kid. The kid can’t leave, she’s stuck here. SIGH.
More to follow on that adventure another time.

I’m debating growing out my bangs, as I do a bad job cutting them.

My greys are also showing through, I think I’m going to see how grey they actually go – might be a good look π

I’m thinking of testing this out too. We shall see. I may look like a zebra for a while… or a skunk! π

I was born in Canada. Does that make me Canadian? Sorry, eh.

I have a good friend. He lives in America. He was raised, educated and has lived there his entire life, except for a couple months. His parents were born there of Anglo descent. And, many many generations before him. Mayflower types. He was born in Japan. Is he American or Japanese?

I spent my formative years in Switzerland. My mom is Swiss, born and raised. I’m Swiss at the core. I feel Swiss.
But I was born in Toronto. And returned when I was 11. Lived in Canada longer than anywhere.
Am I Swiss? Or Canadian?
I guess the main question should be: does it matter?
Sorry (not sorry). π
This is what happens when I look at my phone and get sucked into existential ponderings before my coffee has finished dripping… πΆ

Nah, it doesn’t matter. I like being Canadian. We’re the Kool Kids no one talks about much. Also, this is what happens when I’ve had back-to-back doppio espressos. π

I have a Canadian friend I met up with last year and was surprised to learn that she pronounced “sorry” (“sore-ee”). Is that a Canadian thing or was it a Karri thing? Inquiring minds want to know.

We have a similar culture of apologising all the time in Scotland. π I even apologise to inanimate objects! π€ͺ
