You can’t go wrong with water

The majority of us are dehydrated.

Especially the excessive moderate coffee/tea/wine/beer/cocktail drinkers among us.

We are not drinking enough water and I can prove it. Read this short article and tell me it doesn’t make you think!

The gist:

The author of that article (Aleta Burchyski of embarked on drinking a gallon of water per day for a month and documented what happened.

I read it and thought, I can do this too.

Best part? You don’t have to give up your poison. Keep your coffee and your tea and your booze.

Just add water to your daily drinking obsession.

LOTS of water.

Use this as a guide. If you can handle 10 cups instead of 16 you’re still doing good.

I’m already sorta kinda doing this. I find that with my eczema thing I went through a couple of years back, an increase in water (to detoxify the liver which benefited the skin) was a great way to start treatment. Never mind ointments and lotions and prescriptions and all that…it starts and ends with proper hydration. Especially if you eat and drink things that aren’t part of a whole food.

It took about two weeks to get used to drinking water prior to coffee first thing in the morning. Before I started this, I craved coffee above all else as soon as I opened my eyes.

There is no excuse. Even if you have coffee ready in less than a minute, that’s all the time it takes to drink the water.

Your body will thank you.

Read the article! Especially if you have joint or muscle aches, or associated pain or inflammation.

The article is not long, took me less than 5 minutes to get through.

Here it is again if you didn’t click the article above.

What Happens When You Drink a Gallon of Water a Day?

And before you complain to me about not having access to bathrooms all hours of the day, trust me, I am right there with you. If you read my mishaps post from the weekend you know what I go through with this endless needing to empty the bladder situation.

But that’s still no excuse. We can drink when it suits us. Doesn’t have to be in the car or at the store or whatever…we can find a time of day when it suits us best.

For instance. I drink a large cup of water prior to one mug of coffee. After I finish my coffee I have another cup of water. (If I can’t do all that liquid right before gridlock traffic, I drink the water after I get to my destination.)

When I start fantasizing about more coffee, I drink a cup of water first. Then, I enjoy my coffee, followed by another cup of water.

I do this with wine. Especially red wine. It is crucial to drink water before and after red wine. Or any booze. Your lack of (or lesser) hangovered head will thank you (and me) the next day. πŸ˜›

Ok, who’s in? Who is going to increase their water intake along with me?

  1. I’m part camel πŸͺ… I know I should drink more water – we all should – and I’ve tried all kinds of stuff to create better habits for daily hydration. Morning ritual is typically 1 or 2 tall glasses of water before espresso, then whenever during the workday. I drink water with meals though. And, I’m always eating.

    1. I grew up drinking water with meals so that’s an easy habit to keep going…and I use a post-it note now whenever I pass through the kitchen just to see if I can increase my intake.

Anyway you don’t look like a camel. lol πŸ™‚

  2. Interesting post. I no longer drink coffee or ‘milky’ tea and only ever drink water at work and definitely feel better for it, though I do LOVE mint tea which is ok because it’s supposed to be really good for you.

  3. That’s really interesting. I’m good for 8-10 servings a day (8 ounces each), so I would need about a 40% increase to hit a gallon. I have been thinking about adding a water filter at home – we have one at work. I do find the water tastes better when it’s filtered. Hmmm, food for thought as I think about my 2020 goals…. thanks!

  4. I do really well at work, probably because I talk so much and I realize how dry my mouth is getting! Horrible at home though. I keep telling myself to just fill my water bottle and have it out where I can see it… then I don’t 😦

    1. That’s what I do. I have a large cup full of water in the kitchen on the counter and everytime I pass by there I see it and drink it and fill it up again. Since I go to the kitchen 2387 times a day it’s a nobrainer. πŸ™‚
