Actually, there is no such thing as a designated chore day, at least not in my family. Partly this is because weekends belong to youth sports and everyone is in divide and conquer mode…but, if by some small miracle there is a big part of unfilled space on the calendar, and I see everyone sitting staring at tv screens or whatever, I get a little twitchy.
I had visions of them seeing my practical views as proactive with eagerness to pitch in and then, afterwards, we’d all sit and admire a job well done. Really, if we do it together it’ll take a bit more than an hour with plenty time to relax after; if on the other hand no one but me does all the chores, it’ll take all day.

Anyway, everyone eventually got it together and did a somewhat passable job of various designated chores. But I may have opened a can of worms here; once I was up in the attic, namely to put up summer stuff, take down winter stuff, and located the outdoor Xmas lights, I noticed a bunch of bins and bags with items we no longer require to hang on to and…
…stuff went flying down the attic stairs into the bedroom below. I now have, in addition to the other tasks, 3 additional bags of hand-me-downs to go through, some outgrown hockey gear that they can sell or give away or burn for all I care, empty notebooks I found that someone bought and never used, empty boxes taking up space, and an assorted pile of other crap. The girl will have to try on the hand-me-downs, and if they fit and she likes them, great. If not, bye bye! Add it to the donation pile.
It’s sunny and warm-ish today as well which lets me hang clothes outside (what with the dryer still not replaced) so I’m doing extra loads. The girl and the man are raking leaves out front, and the boy should be vacuuming the rec room downstairs, although I don’t hear the vacuum…in a second I will head over to the steps and yell ask what’s up down there.
I’m sure he has a legitimate reason for keeping that vacuum quiet… š
Ok, time for a tea while I try to finish up the kitchen clutter. Roast is in crock pot, at least dinner is a no-brainer today. I may stay home from the rink tonight and let the girl go with her dad for a change. My stomach hurts and I feel a bit nauseous. Hope I don’t have a repeat of the dry heaves from two nights ago.
Sigh…
Happy Sunday, of what’s left of it.
Hope you had a good day!

We’re having a roast too…but I am not venturing up into the attic, so the similarity ends there.
