Hello from snowed-in Toronto.
You may or may not have noticed I have changed my first name out of all the apps I could think of…I got scammed, and I will blog about that later, when I get confirmation. I think what happened was someone is posing as a mom from the ‘hood – I’m in the process of verifying with another email address I have for her that she is not sending me that email (and requesting money)…
Anyway, stay tuned. I’m working on not quitting writing…but I have my hands full at the moment. Also, I will have to go shovel out the cars because…
…hockey.
Blah.

That reminds me… I need to replace my snow shovel.
It’s always annoying to get hacked. I hope they haven’t done too much damage.

So far not that I can see. But someone is impersonating a mom I know (but just barely) and trying to extort $. And infiltrating my apps.

Nasty. Something similar happened to my partner’s mother — someone got into her email account and started sending out mails claiming that she was stranded in Paris and could we send her some money.
Fortunately, my partner phoned her mum before replying to the email and then spent the next few days helping her to get her email account back.

Yes, they are quite sneaky!
I’m trying to reach the person in question but she didn’t respond. I went to a friend, another mom, and asked her to let me know what the current email is for that mom, and she said she ‘handled it’ herself. I don’t know what this means, so I’m dropping it. I would have preferred to talk to the mom in the email in person, you know, not go through a third party…
Anyway, I’m moving on now. 🙂

So sorry. And sorry about the snow too, shoveling out the car sounds like a lot of work!

Hope you find the culprit. And get to hockey and then home safely. Stay warm.

Well, like you said…at least it’s pretty!

I am confused! You are obviously not a mother from the hood. How do you track these hackers? How do they find us? Are you enjoying the snow?

It’s complicated but in this case I’m going with gut feeling. Also the language employed in the email, the sense of urgency, sounds very ‘unCanadian’…I don’t know if that makes sense but I will elaborate in a blog post soon.
Snow? No. I have to go shovel the car out. blah. It does look pretty though…much nicer than brown icky mud.

So many people are writing about snow today! Sorry for the added burden of dealing with security issues…

That sucks. Hacking is cowardice. Was I the only doofus in Toronto that didn’t check the weather report today? Big snow. Stay dry and warm. 🙂
