So this morning, they left. Every single one of them! I had an empty house. π
Today was the first day of school for Canadian children.

The morning was kind of anti-climatic actually, which is a nice change of pace. Having gone through various forms of stress, anxiety or other associated emotions in the past, I didn’t really know what to expect today. Nice that it went relatively smoothly.
My son started high school this morning. But he didn’t have a full day of class, he simply had to go in to register and receive his schedule. Class beings tomorrow.
The other kid’s biggest concern was which door they had to enter now that they were in grade 7 and considered ‘older’. I didn’t hear from her all day (and didn’t expect to) so I figured she found her door. π
She did come home with all the usual redundant papers I had to fill out and sign. How many times do they think her information changes? I mean, her birthday or her health card doesn’t change but I had to fill those in anyway. Ugh. π³
Once they left this morning though, I spent my day cooking, similar to yesterday, because every single evening this week we have activities.
Partway through the day I ate chocolate. Double espresso dark chocolate.

Yes I wore my bikini on the beach the other day. You wanna see a picture you have to go read the previous post. πππ
ANYWAY.
We’re in full-on baseball-tryout-practice-hockey-tournament-ringette-registration-gymnastics again and it won’t be long before I lose my mind.
But today, today was a good day.
Happy back to school!
Our house has hit the ground running this week too – it didn’t help that I was sent away with work on Wednesday, but otherwise it’s been pretty good. Fingers crossed it remains that way!

School started on Monday over here. The eldest is starting middle school and only had half a day on Monday for registrations receiving his timetable. There are 21 kids in his class and they printed 20 timetables — guess who was at the back of the line.
Saturdays are going to be fun for the next few months — between them, the kids have activities scheduled from 10:30am to 6:30pm. It will be interesting to see how this all works out…

Ah, another summer – and another stack of papers. My son graduated, last year so no more of that. Now he fills out his own papers for jobs. We used to go to the school each year for the “Meet the Teacher” night. That’s great until they start realizing that he won’t do his homework and then you go to an event and you duck into a dark corner so you don’t get recognized. How was the espresso chocolate? I probably need a stash of that in my desk.

Ugh. I’m trying to keep my sanity with the mountain of paper coming in…
The chocolate was delicious. I didn’t eat all of it which is a small miracle. π It was rich and satisfying enough after a couple of pieces.

That chocolate looks divine and I’m jealous over here! We do all of our major paperwork towards the end of each year and then sometimes a little more a few weeks before school starts. And yes, it is all the same stuff every year. Last year was the first time I was able to do it online and everything was already there, it was such a huge relief!

Some schools are on the ball. The school board here is ridiculous at the amount of redundant info they ask for every friggen little thing. I sign all the same forms again throughout the year each time an event comes up.

I went through the mess of filling out a huge stack of papers when my oldest was heading to high school only to find that the middle school somehow didn’t get it transferred to the high school and was forced to sit down and fill it all out again to get him registered. So immensely frustrating!

It takes weeks to fully adjust again.

Sigh. Well I’m no amateur but once the time change happens and the novelty wears off I’ll be crying into my morning coffee. π

Oh, you make me laugh! Thank you! It’s back to school day here in northern MN too. During the baby’s nap, it felt like I could finally breathe again. Haha!

The ubiquitous bikini. The last time I remember wearing one was on a kibbutz in Israel. Hmm.

I remember well the awesome feeling of having my house to myself when school began. Of course when my kids were in their teens I ruined it all by beginnings a teaching career. π³

It’s a couple of hours before I head out for dog walking. And not daily, but so nice. π
