I had a date on Thursday night with my teen. ❤
This is how it happened:
After everyone ate, and the girl and her dad left for practice, I coaxed my boy to come for a bike ride with me. The cold and wet weather finally moved on and it was still early (just after 6 pm). I didn’t want to spend the remainder of my evening crashed in front of stupid tv, or plugged in.
The boy hummed and hawed. He’d rather play a bit of basketball on the driveway.
Then he noticed his ball was deflated, and the basketball net that I made him out of an old tomato plant wire cage thingy was all bent and then the pin in the pump was missing…well he just wasn’t feeling it.
So, once he saw me get my bike ready, he changed his mind. And this, fellow blogging peeps, THIS made me sooo happy!
We had a wonderful little bike ride out toward the shores of Lake Ontario, which was actually flooding parts of our path.
Here are some of the pictures (posted with my teen’s permission).
Last week, I was down by the lake with the girl child, on the other side where the pond is. The pipe the swans use to swim from the lake inlet to the pond where they nest is submerged. That’s three feet of water higher than usual… (look closely)
The pond is on the left (not pictured) and if there are swans’ nests, they must be hidden in the foliage (due to the excessive amounts of water).
Anyway, the walk with my girl the previous week went down to the second pebble beach, the one where the dogs like to go swimming to fetch sticks.
Here’s a little clip of her doing kid-things, while I sat listening to bird sounds and watching the little red-winged-black-bird peck in the sand.
Happy Friday everyone! I’m heading out on a baseball tournament tonight and through the weekend. I’ll be sitting on uncomfortable benches hopefully not freezing to death cheering on the girls’ development baseball team.
See you in the comments. 🙂
