Am writing, constantly

Today I created a spreadsheet to tally up the words I’ve written so far in the romantic fiction category:

almost 20,000 words

This surprises me. Apparently, I’m a writer. 😉

I have four different stories on the go…

Some of these are slowly progressing, contemporary romantic type stories, others are a little bit steamier, based on vivid imagination and fantasy. I’m trying my hand at some variations of this genre…and getting more comfortable at it as it seems. 🙂

I have also written other things, like the memoir, and the stories that are related to my childhood memories. Some of you have read chapters of that, both posted on this blog. Like the creative writing piece Stupid Cow, or the two chapters from my memoir. I have other stories like it, which I could publish here for you to read; maybe I will. There’s at least two that come to mind…some of these were submitted to contests and rejected.

I should tally up those words, too. Because I still wrote the words. 😉

I wonder if WP has a an automatic calculation feature that tallies up all the words I’ve written in this blog…

Here’s the thing about writing. I want to write so much more. But I have to filter so much of it, currently, for a variety of reasons. You know, the mom-role and the family connection and and and…

So I make up stuff and write about it. That works, for now anyway. Right?

It’s a rhetorical question. 🙂

Basically what I’m trying to tell you is this:

I am a writer.

I’m just not a published writer.

  1. Congratulations! Yes, you can see how many words you’ve written on the WP blog – go to Stats-Insights and there’s an annual site stat section indicating how many words. Or was that a rhetorical question too? Happy Writing to you-you have a gift, keep on writing, someday you’ll be published!
