So it’s Wednesday and all kinds of new and exciting things are happening at this Toronto nuthouse! 😏
First, it’s cold. I’m in the car schlepping kids to school because walking is not an option when you have a trombone to carry that’s as big as you, an arm in a sling because of a broken collarbone, and there are snowbanks three feet high to navigate.
Also it’s cold. Did I mention it’s cold? Some of the bloggers I follow who live in Minnesota also talk about how cold it is. There’s others, in Wisconsin, New York, Michigan (you know who you are)…probably most of the northern part of North America.
I feel you, people! ❤ 💟
This is what it’s like here in Toronto. For reference, –20°C is –4°F…brrr.
Oh, and then this happened again. The fridge made a noise that sounded like an airplane is about to take off, so a very grumpy man got up on the middle of the night to turn off the circuit breaker. Then, later, he went to work and I had to take everything out of the fridge and put it in coolers. AGAIN.
For some reason, defrosting the fridge solves the noise problem temporarily.
Apparently, the cooling tower at the back sometimes malfunctions in ways an electrician can explain better than me, and as a result the fan back there accumulates ice. When the fan turns with ice on its blades, it makes noise. Sounds like a turboprop airplane…very irritating. Which is why a 24 hour defrost solves the ice accumulation issue and within 48 hours the fridge is back to normal, which may not seem like a big deal but if you have to do this every 6 weeks or so IT BECOMES INCREDIBLY ANNOYING.
There is no extra cash to purchase a new fridge right now so this is what I do every few weeks.
Allow me to repeat myself:
DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG APPLIANCES.
🙄
What else?
Oh yes, snow shoveling is so much fun when it’s 20 below.
This is the best I can do on the driveway.
But there is a silver lining here: I am getting lots of resistance training into my day now. Ha! Maybe I’ll be in great shape by spring time if this keeps up. 🙃
Just to reiterate about the cold: to snap that picture above, I took my glove off. Within 30 seconds I was in pain. THAT’S how cold it is here.
I don’t care, I still love 🇨🇦…
Stay warm and dry my friends!
We have a freezer that ices up all the time – despite stickers all over it saying it doesn’t. Freezers ALWAYS ice up.

We were supposed to have snow yesterday. Some fell but none of it settled and the only significant flurry was when I went out for pizza. But I’m not complaining — -2°C is nothing compared to -20.
Stay warm

You are one tough lady. It’s been in the 20’s the last few mornings and I feel like my very bones are frozen. Some of that is thyroid related, but I don’t know how you even approach the outdoors with negative temps. I’d be wrapped in 5 electric blankets, next to a fireplace, under a heat lamp until spring.
