Early this morning I had insomnia. Either that, or I was done sleeping by 4 am. I was in bed before 10pm last night and did some reading, so maybe I was rested enough to get up…?
Who knows. All I know is I couldn’t fall back asleep.
In order to let my partner continue with his sleep, I moved myself to the couch.
This was in my line of vision.
The tiny tree, not yet decorated, had a middle portion of lights on the string burnt out.
The black hole in the middle bothered me. 😕
I briefly contemplated whether I should fix it now, or wait till after coffee.
Coffee won. ☕
But that meant I had to get off the couch. 🙄
I got up. Because coffee.
I turned on the electric kettle and then went to fiddle with the lights, quickly realizing I will have to remove them, and either replace with a new string or figure out which bulb was causing the trouble.
Too much action that early in the morning before coffee…
Then I remembered the kettle. It was still going. What is wrong with the auto-shutoff?
I noticed most of the water had evaporated by now, and the adjacent cabinet and wall were dripping with condensation.
Sigh and blah.
The kettle is old. It has rust in various places. The shutoff thingy doesn’t work anymore. I will have to visit Amazon at some point and purchase a new kettle I think. Maybe I’ll do that today. Before I inadvertently burn the house down with the old kettle.
No way I’m heading to stores this close to Christmas for small appliance shopping…😉
No time, either, since I have two dogs to walk today and maybe have them over for a playdate, too.
We shall see.
In the meantime it’s 6 am, the men are up, fed and ready for the early practice at the rink.
I’m ready for a second cup of coffee.
And so begins another day. I must wake the girl soon, make her breakfast and a school lunch, and get my day started.
